And the children's books we wrote? They're about fascination with creativity, knowledge, and identity with more to come.
Why This Started
This brand began as a creative project rooted in real life with my son. During the pandemic, my son Lukas was four and deeply fascinated with the solar system. He drew it constantly, filling pages with planets and space scenes. We turned that time into something meaningful by creating a book together — Lukas’ Favorite Things: A Kid’s Introduction to Our Solar System. He illustrated it, and I helped bring the writing and structure together. Almost 2 years later, I wrote Lukas' Favorite Things: Curly Hair, a book inspired by my experience and my son’s relationship with his hair. It focuses on natural hair confidence, history, and helping children and parents embrace Afro-textured hair. Together, these became Lukas’ Favorite Things, named after what he loved most at the time: space and his Afro.
What started as a family project grew into something bigger — a focus on identity, creativity, and self-worth. This clothing line continues that work, with future plans for journals, coloring books, and creative tools inspired by the original artwork and books.
